With Rings of Power already setting a new record for Amazon after 25 million viewers tuned in to watch the first episode (via THR), it’s safe to say the series will be here for a long time. While many fans are already amazed by the hard work put into the sets and costumes, they’ve also been highly impressed by Morfydd Clark performance as Galadriel (with many believing she has captured her empowering and honorable nature perfectly).
Given Clark’s extensive filmography, many of her fans are delighted to see her get another chance in a leading role. After she was nominated in 2021 for the EE Rising Star Award at the BAFTA awards and won a Welsh BAFTA Best Actress award the same year for her lead role in the psychological horror film Saint Maud, it did seem like she would be one to watch out for. Now that she has finally reached international acclaim, it seems like most are celebrating by watching and searching up what her best roles have been on IMDb.
10 The Personal History of David Copperfield (2019) – 6.4
Available To Buy On Amazon Prime
In this modern take of The Personal History of David Copperfield, Clark plays Clara Copperfield and Dora Spenlow. Although there is quite an age difference between the characters, both Clara and Dora have a lot in common as many characters remark how the two have similar personalities and mindsets.
Although this is only a supporting role, Clark does manage to make her staple on the audience by capturing the two characters perfectly. To add to this, many critics also praised Clark and Dev Patel’s chemistry (who plays David Copperfield) as their connection helped provide insight into David’s motives and mind.
9 The City and the City (2018) – 6.4
Streaming On Brit Box
Clark plays Yolanda Stark in this fantasy crime show about Inspector Tyador Borlú from Beszel, who is investigating the murder of Mahalia Geary.
Yolanda Stark is an important character in the series, as she is the one who tipped off Tyador Borlú about her friend’s murder. Although the limited amount of episodes meant that Clark didn’t get to show off much of her talent, she still managed to make an impression on the fans by putting in an emotional performance here.
8 The Prevailing Winds (2016) – 6.4
No Streaming Information Available
In The Prevailing Winds, Clark plays Anna, the missing sister of The Hiker (Lydia Leonard), who is out searching for her despite the deadly toxins in the air.
One of her more unlikable characters, Clark portrays Anna as a somewhat bratty and naive character sister who gets injured due to her inexperience with hiking. Her annoyance at her sister and lack of understanding of what a dangerous situation they are in also make the situation feel even more intense. While she doesn’t get a lot of screen time, her role here did prepare her for more complex roles.
7 Saint Maud (2019) – 6.7
Streaming on Amazon Prime
In this female-centric horror film (written and directed by Rose Glass), Clark plays the title role of Maud, a religious nurse who tries to save her hospice patient Amanda’s soul, no matter what the cost.
As her first award-nominatedl role, Clark received critical acclaim, with Empire Magazinecalling this one of her most “powerful and chilling” characters. Not only were audiences on the edge of their seats at all times as viewers couldn’t predict where the writers would take the plot but it also made for an interesting character study too.
6 Dracula (2020) – 6.8
Streaming on Netflix
Clark plays Mina in Steven Moffat (who is known for show-running Doctor Who) and Mark Gatiss’s BBC serial adaptation of Dracula.
Although Clark’s Mina only has a minor role, she still manages to make the character her own. Not only does Clark manage to depict Mina’s pain after discovering the tragedy that befell Jonathan, but fans also see the deep love they have for one another (echoing scenes from the text). It’s just a shame that Mina is somewhat overshadowed by Sister Agatha (Van Helsing’s counterpart in this version) as fans would have loved to have seen the two of them work side by side to defeat Dracula.
5 The Man Who Invented Christmas (2017) – 7.0
Streaming on Showtime
In The Man Who Invented Christmas, a biographical film chronicling how Charles Dickens’ developed A Christmas Carol, Clark plays Charles Dickens’s real-life wife, Kate.
Although Clark only has a small role in the film, she does play an important part in Charles’s character development as well as the conclusion. Her chemistry with Dan Stevens was also praised by the audience, who managed to perfectly convey the tension between the two as Dickens struggled to balance his personal and professional life.
4 Arthur & George (2015) – 7.1
Streaming on Amazon Prime
Playing the role of Mary in Arthur & George, Clark managed to shine once again in this role. While many people are aware of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s iconic stories (particularly around Sherlock Holmes), not many people know that Conan Doyle also helped stop a miscarriage of justice (which this series explored in depth).
Clark’s Mary has a very small role in only the first episode, she still plays an important part one as she helps Conan Doyle come to terms with his thoughts and feelings. It is certainly one of her more likable roles as Mary does appear to be very compassionate and kind individual.
3 His Dark Materials (2019-2022) – 7.8
Streaming on HBO Max
In series 1 of Philip Pullman’s book series His Dark Materials, Clark provides a very chilling performance as Sister Clara.
Playing her as a very cold and dead-eyed individual who mistreats children, the viewers were particularly intimidated by her as it appeared that she had sinister intentions. However, for those who read the books, they knew this was an intentional decision since Clara had one of the most tragic backstories. While it’s a shame that the show didn’t go into it in depth, eagle-eyed viewers appreciated the little nuisances Clark put in.
2 Patrick Melrose (2018) – 8.0
Streaming on Showtime
Clark plays Debbie Hickman in the episodes “Bad News” and “Some Hope” in this drama about Patrick Melrose (Benedict Cumberbatch). In the series, the viewers see the son of a well-off family journey of self-discovery as he recovers from drug addiction and childhood trauma.
Clark’s Debbie Hickman is the well-meaning girlfriend of Patrick, who is trying to help him with his recovery. While she might not get as much screen time as the other actors, she does come off as a kind and considerate person. She is also seen to have great chemistry with Cumberbatch.

Clark plays Cécile Volanges in the 2016 production of the romance Les Liaisons Dangereuses.
Clark captures Cécile’s giddiness at discovering the concept of sex for the first time. However, events turn much darker as Cécile’s experiences with Valmont are against her will. While Clark does not have as much to do as the two schemers Marquise de Merteuil and Vicomte de Valmont, she still makes the most of her role as the comparatively innocent Cécile.
